To access tailgate window motor the window has to be extended once the tailgate is down. To do this both side latches on the tailgate sides have to be snapped closed. Open the access panel and then reach in and extend the window. Be sure not to place anything heavy on the extended window. Small hand tools is all I'd try to get away with. Unbolt the motor and bring it to the access area.
