One timing cover bolt sleeve stayed in the block; the other in the timing cover. I extracted both so I could be sure the surfaces were clean & flat. This spiral extractor is gripping the inside (the UNcritical side) in several places while keeping the sleeve round. So it's the least-likely method to distort the sleeve. The prybar is what's moving the sleeve out of its bore.
