A burned-out wiring pigtail laid on a metal workbench, its outer jacket split open to expose charred, heat-melted red, pink and black conductors and a fused, corroded end. A NAPA thermostat box (No. 169), a white thermostat housing gasket and a red-handled tool sit next to it.
