The 1973 Mercury Cougar was the final Mustang-based Cougar and the last offered as a convertible, wearing a revised grille and an energy-absorbing front bumper to meet new impact standards. 351 V8 power continued in base and XR-7 trims before the move to a midsize personal-luxury chassis for 1974.
