The 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis was completely redesigned with rounded aerodynamic bodywork on an updated Panther chassis, replacing the pushrod 5.0L with the 4.6L SOHC Modular V8—190 horsepower with the standard single exhaust or 210 with the optional dual exhaust. The wagon was dropped, leaving a single four-door sedan.
