The 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis was completely redesigned with rounded aerodynamic bodywork on an updated Panther chassis, replacing the pushrod 5.0L with the 4.6L SOHC Modular V8-190 horsepower with the standard single exhaust or 210 with the optional dual exhaust. The wagon was dropped, leaving a single four-door sedan.
