Peterbilt 359
1970 Peterbilt 359 Specs & Photos
The 1970 Peterbilt 359 is a Class 8 conventional highway tractor from the model's early production, the 359 having been introduced in 1967 to replace the Model 351. Like all 359s it used an aluminum cab with a one-piece tilting fiberglass hood, and it was ordered as a day cab or with a sleeper on a set-forward or set-back front axle. Powertrains were buyer-specified: diesel engines came from Caterpillar, Cummins, or Detroit Diesel, paired with Fuller manual transmissions. The 1970 model year was a carryover within the 359's 1967-1987 run, well before the Big Cam Cummins and Caterpillar 3406B updates of the following decade.
