Plymouth Valiant
1972 Plymouth Valiant Specs & Photos
The 1972 Plymouth Valiant is a carryover year within the third generation (1967-1973) of Chrysler's A-body compact, sold primarily as a four-door sedan alongside the companion Duster fastback coupe and Valiant Scamp two-door hardtop. Powertrains carried the 198 cubic inch (3.2L) and 225 cubic inch (3.7L) slant-sixes plus the 318 cubic inch (5.2L) LA V8, with the 225 rated at 110 hp net and the 318 at 150 hp net. 1972 was the year Chrysler quoted SAE net horsepower instead of the earlier gross figures, so the ratings read lower than comparable 1971 numbers. A three-speed manual was standard, with the TorqueFlite three-speed automatic optional.
