The 1986 Subaru BRAT is a coupe utility on the second-generation Subaru Leone platform, using the carbureted 1.8L EA81 flat-four (boxer) rated at about 73 hp (net) with selectable four-wheel drive and a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. For 1986 Subaru deleted the two rear-facing molded jump seats that had been bolted into the cargo bed, so most 1986 examples left the factory without them, while the body and drivetrain otherwise carried over from 1985. North American sales of the BRAT continued only through the 1987 model year.
