The 2009 Subaru Impreza brought a substantial WRX revision, raising output to 265 horsepower and 244 lb-ft with retuned suspension and wider 225-series tires. A new 2.5GT trim offered the 224 horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter with an automatic transmission, while the 2.5i continued at 170 horsepower. The hatchback-only WRX STI carried on at 305 horsepower.
