The 2023 Toyota 4Runner is a fifth-generation model (N280 platform) near the end of the generation's run, powered by the carryover 4.0L 1GR-FE V6 making 270 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 278 lb-ft of torque with a five-speed automatic transmission. New for the year was the 40th Anniversary Special Edition, a 4WD-only model based on the SR5 Premium and limited to 4,040 units, distinguished by a heritage grille and tri-color striping.
