The 1990 Toyota Hilux was part of the fifth generation launched for 1989, sold in the United States as the Toyota Pickup while the Hilux name continued abroad. The US lineup paired the 22R-E 2.4-liter four, rated 116 horsepower in this generation, with the 3VZ-E 3.0-liter V6 at 150 horsepower. Regular cab and Xtracab bodies came in 2WD or 4WD, the latter retaining independent front suspension.
