The 1985 Toyota Pickup gained electronic fuel injection with the new 22R-E, which raised the 2.4-liter four to 116 horsepower while the carbureted 22R continued in base trucks. It was also the last year the 4x4 used a leaf-sprung solid front axle, a configuration off-road builders still seek out from this 1984-1988 generation. Regular cab and Xtracab bodies were offered in 2WD and 4WD, with SR5 as the top trim.
