get long tube headers for the exhaust. make it dual. i got a big horsepower gain in my 85. and with the big tires you need to change the gears in the axle and change the speedo end that goes into the transfercase to get the correct speed/milage. and more power get. get some kind of high performance distributor/coil. I did that on the 85 and another major power increase. i recently did the electric fans on my 85. i have to post pics soon. i didnt see a power or milage increase with that. I still have to put the 6" lift on the truck and the 35" procomp tires i just bought put on the 85. then body work. oh lovely body work. lmao

If money is no object, go all out. You can't go wrong with dual exhaust and headers. Thats argueably the best single mod you can do to your truck dollar for dollar. The "Dragging " I think you are refering to is not to do with the transmission but your gear ratio in your Diffs. You should have 3.55 gears in your truck right now. Depending on how big your tires are, you would really notice a difference by swapping out those gears for something a little lower. If your tires are 33's maybe consider a 4.10 ratio. 35's 4.56 - 4.88 ratio. Depends totally on your preference. Also while you have them out you can stuff in a locker in each diff as well. The list goes on and on, There is no end. Just find out what you want to use the Beast for and go from there. I would do the Headers and Dual exhaust first, followed closely by the gear swap. 35's and 4.56 gears are an awesome combination I would highly recommend.

Happy Wheeling,

Hello All,
Recently purchased 1990 Eddie Bauer. Love the beast. Got a couple of questions regarding the insides. I had a new transmission put in, waterpump, all new rear brake system. Now she needs a new exhaust(manifold is cracked as well). Any suggestions for exhaust systems? (should igo with flowmaster? dual or single?) Should I add headers? Also have larger tires on it, should the transmission be adjusted to accomodate the tires? Kind of dragging right now. I think that will cover it for now.........any comments would be appreciated!!!
