The 2004 Chevrolet Colorado launched the first-generation Colorado on the GMT355 platform, replacing the Chevrolet S-10 as Chevrolet's mid-size pickup. Engine choices were a 2.8L inline-four (LK5) rated at 175 hp and a 3.5L inline-five (L52, Vortec 3500) rated at 220 hp, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Body styles included regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab, in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. It shared its GMT355 architecture with the GMC Canyon.
