The 1971 Dodge Dart lineup added the Demon, a fastback two-door built on the Plymouth Duster's 108-inch-wheelbase A-body shell and sold alongside Swinger hardtops and Custom sedans on the 111-inch chassis. The Demon 340 carried the 340 cubic inch four-barrel V8 rated at 275 horsepower gross, with an optional dual-scoop hood. Standard Demons and Darts offered the 198 and 225 Slant Sixes and the 230 horsepower gross 318 V8.
