The 2000 Dodge Neon opened the second-generation Neon, a redesigned front-wheel-drive compact offered only as a four-door sedan after the first-generation coupe was dropped. Its 2.0L SOHC inline-four was rated at 132 hp, driving the front wheels through a five-speed manual or a three-speed automatic. The second-generation body used a stiffer structure and revised suspension versus the 1995-1999 car it replaced. The Plymouth Neon twin continued for 2000 before that brand was retired.
