The 1979 Ford E-350 Econoline topped the Econoline range as its one-ton, highest-GVWR model. Its third-generation ladder frame and available dual rear wheels made the E-350 cutaway a standard foundation for Class C motorhomes, ambulances, and box trucks in the late 1970s. Gasoline engines remained the only choice in 1979.
