The 1994 Ford Explorer was the final model year of the first generation before the 1995 redesign. It used the 4.0-liter overhead-valve V6 rated at 160 horsepower, with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic and the UN46 body-on-frame chassis derived from the Ford Ranger. The 1994 Explorer remained available in two-door and four-door bodies across the XL, XLT, Sport, and Eddie Bauer trims.
