The 1997 Ford F-250 saw the OBS-style F-250 Heavy Duty continue this year only, as a bridge until the all-new Super Duty F-250 arrived for 1999. The 7.3L Power Stroke diesel, the 5.8L V8, and the 7.5L big-block were offered. The 1997 OBS F-250 4x4 used the Dana 50 Twin-Traction Beam independent front suspension; the separate 1997 light-duty F-250 moved to the new F-150 body.
