1962 Ford Galaxie Specs & Photos

The 1962 Ford Galaxie line added the Galaxie 500 as the new top series, and the midyear Galaxie 500/XL brought bucket seats and a center console to the full-size Ford. Ford dropped the Starliner fastback, leaving formal-roof hardtops that hurt aerodynamics on NASCAR superspeedways. The new 406 cubic inch FE V8 arrived rated at 385 horsepower gross with a four-barrel or 405 horsepower gross with triple two-barrels, sold only with a 4-speed manual and heavy-duty chassis equipment.
