The 1969 Ford Galaxie moved to an all-new body on a longer 121-inch wheelbase, the biggest full-size Ford redesign since 1965. The new 385-series 429 V8 replaced the FE-series 428 at the top of the lineup, rated at 320 horsepower gross with a two-barrel or 360 horsepower gross with a four-barrel, and the new 351 Windsor slotted into the middle of the range. Galaxie 500 body styles ran from sedans and formal hardtops to the SportsRoof fastback and a convertible.
