The 1977 Ford Ranchero moved onto the new LTD II platform that replaced the Gran Torino, a body-on-frame intermediate on a 118-inch wheelbase. The generation was V8 only, with three two-barrel V8s: the 302 as the base engine and the 351M and 400 optional, all rated SAE net. The 1977 Ranchero was offered as the GT, the woodgrain Squire, and the base 500.
