1961 Ford Thunderbird Specs & Photos
The 1961 Ford Thunderbird introduced the third-generation Bullet Bird, a restyled unibody with a pointed front end and round taillights, offered as a hardtop coupe and convertible. Its only engine was the new 390 cubic inch FE V8 rated at 300 gross horsepower, paired exclusively with a Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic, as no manual was offered this generation. New features included the Swing-Away steering wheel, and a 1961 Thunderbird convertible served as the Indianapolis 500 pace car.
The 1961 Ford Thunderbird is part of the Third-Gen Thunderbird generation (1961–1963). See the full Ford Thunderbird 1961–1963 registry →
