The 1966 Ford Thunderbird was the final year of the fourth generation and the last Thunderbird convertible until the 2002 revival. The standard 390 cubic inch FE V8 rose to 315 gross horsepower, and a new optional 428 cubic inch FE V8 produced 345 gross horsepower. A full-width taillight panel was adopted, and new Town Hardtop and Town Landau models featured a wide, closed C-pillar in place of rear quarter windows.
