The 1986 Jaguar XJ6 was a carryover year in the Series 3 line, the six-cylinder XJ saloon that Jaguar built from 1979 to 1987. It retained the 4.2 L XK inline-six with Bosch/Lucas L-Jetronic fuel injection, the four-door saloon body, and, in the United States, the Borg-Warner Model 66 three-speed automatic. US output stayed near 176 hp (net). The all-new XJ40 replacement was already reaching some markets, but United States XJ6 buyers continued with the Series 3 for 1986.
