The 2005 Jeep Liberty received a mid-cycle facelift with revised grille, fascias, and lighting, and became the first diesel-powered Jeep sold in the United States in nearly two decades. The new 2.8-liter CRD turbodiesel four, built by VM Motori, delivered 160 horsepower and 295 pound-feet through a five-speed automatic. Gasoline models continued with the 150 horsepower 2.4-liter four and 210 horsepower 3.7-liter V6.
