The 2006 Jeep Liberty dropped the 2.4-liter four, leaving the 210 horsepower 3.7-liter V6 and the 2.8-liter CRD turbodiesel as the two engine choices. It proved the final year for the CRD in the United States, as the diesel could not meet the emissions standards taking effect for 2007. A 65th Anniversary Edition package marked Jeep's 1941 origins across the 2006 lineup.
