1999 Mercury Grand Marquis Cruise-Only Clockspring Wiring Pinout Diagram
Connector face diagrams for a clockspring harness and under-dash plug listing terminal functions (horn, cruise, chime, ground) with their wire color codes.
This document is a hand-made wiring/pinout reference showing two four-pin connectors related to a steering-wheel clockspring installation, apparently for a cruise-control-only (non-redundant-controls) setup. The left diagram, outlined in red and labeled "Clockspring Harness," shows the connector on the clockspring side with four circuits and their wire colors: Ground (Black), Horn (Yellow/Light Blue Stripe), Chime when Key In Ignition (Black/Violet Stripe), and Cruise (Blue/Black Stripe). The right diagram, labeled "Plug Under Dash," shows the mating vehicle-side connector under the dash with the corresponding circuits: Chime when Key In Ignition (Black/Violet Stripe), Cruise (Light Blue/Black Stripe), Ground (Green/Orange Stripe), and Horn (Dark Blue x 2 wires). Pin positions are drawn schematically within each connector outline so a reader can match each cavity to its function and wire color on both sides of the connection. A reader can use this to identify which wire performs which function when swapping or wiring a clockspring for cruise control, horn, key-in-ignition chime, and ground on the associated vehicle. The document itself contains no year, make, model, or part number information; the vehicle attribution comes from the uploader's gallery (1999 Mercury Grand Marquis).

Frequently asked questions
- What wire colors are on the cruise-only clockspring harness connector?
- Black (Ground), Yellow/Light Blue Stripe (Horn), Black/Violet Stripe (Chime when Key In Ignition), and Blue/Black Stripe (Cruise).
- What wire colors are on the plug under the dash that mates to the clockspring?
- Black/Violet Stripe (Chime when Key In Ignition), Light Blue/Black Stripe (Cruise), Green/Orange Stripe (Ground), and Dark Blue x 2 wires (Horn).
- Which wire is the horn circuit on the under-dash plug?
- The horn circuit at the under-dash plug uses Dark Blue x 2 wires; on the clockspring harness side the horn wire is Yellow/Light Blue Stripe.
- Which wire carries the key-in-ignition chime signal?
- On both the clockspring harness and the under-dash plug, the chime-when-key-in-ignition circuit is the Black/Violet Stripe wire.
- What is the ground wire color at the under-dash plug versus the clockspring harness?
- Ground is Green/Orange Stripe at the plug under the dash and plain Black on the clockspring harness.
