Collage of engine disassembly, water pump and timing cover with…

The water pump was leaking from its first gasket at the top. Later, a pressure test showed seeping from the thermostat gasket, so they were replaced. Both nuts for the misfire sensor shield were over-tightened (probably when the water pump was replaced) and required extra effort to separate. After sandblasting it (& the water pump bolts & backplate), the broken tab on the heater return hose was welded back on. The heater core was backflushed, as was the block. All the gaskets & hoses were sealed with Indian Head shellac.
