A freshly painted gray V8 short block sits on a tire in the bed of a truck, viewed from the front driver's side with the oil pan, timing cover and orange-sealed harmonic balancer visible. The heads are on with no intake, valve covers or accessories installed, and a red engine hoist stands in the shop behind it.
