The 1993 Mercury Topaz was a carryover year of the facelifted second-generation (1988-1994) compact, sharing its front-wheel-drive platform with the Ford Tempo. The standard engine was the 2.3L HSC pushrod inline-four rated at 96 hp (net), with the optional 3.0L Vulcan V6 producing 135 hp and 150 lb-ft. Body styles were the 2-door and 4-door sedan, paired with a five-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transaxle. All-wheel drive was no longer offered, having ended after the 1991 model year.
