The 1994 Mercury Topaz was the final model year of the nameplate, with the last examples built in early 1994 before the Mercury Mystique replaced it for 1995. It was a carryover of the second-generation (1988-1994) front-wheel-drive compact that shared its platform with the Ford Tempo. The base 2.3L HSC pushrod inline-four, in its final year of production, was rated at 96 hp (net), while the optional 3.0L Vulcan V6 made 135 hp and 150 lb-ft. The 1994 Topaz was offered as a 2-door and 4-door sedan with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transaxle.
