The 1998 Pontiac Grand Am is the final year of the fourth-generation N-body compact (1992-1998), available as a two-door coupe and four-door sedan in SE and GT trim. The 2.4L LD9 Twin Cam DOHC inline-four (150 hp net) was standard and the 3.1L 60-degree V6 (155 hp net) optional, with a five-speed manual on the four-cylinder or a four-speed automatic. An all-new fifth-generation Grand Am followed for 1999, making 1998 the last of this body style. The prominent ribbed lower body cladding remained a defining trait.
