The 1993 Toyota Pickup was among the last of the line, with the Tacoma replacing Toyota's US compact truck in early 1995. The fifth-generation body, mildly restyled with a new grille for 1992, offered regular cab and Xtracab configurations in 2WD and 4WD, powered by the 2.4-liter 22R-E four or the 150 horsepower 3.0-liter 3VZ-E V6. 4x4 models retained the torsion-bar Hi-Trac independent front suspension the truck had used since 1986.
