The 1997 Acura Integra, part of the third generation, marked the US debut of the Integra Type R (DC2), powered by the B18C5 1.8L DOHC VTEC rated at 195 net horsepower and offered only as a 3-door hatchback with a 5-speed manual. Other trims continued: RS, LS, and GS with the 142 net horsepower B18B1, and the GS-R with the 170 net horsepower B18C1 VTEC. Body styles remained the 3-door hatchback and 4-door sedan, with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic on non-Type R models.
