The 1979 Chevrolet Cheyenne was a mid-level trim of the third-generation C/K pickup, the 1973 through 1987 square-body series, positioned between the Scottsdale and the top Silverado. This was a carryover year within that generation, sold on C10 through C30 two-wheel-drive and K-series four-wheel-drive chassis in Fleetside and Stepside beds. The standard engine was the 250 cubic inch inline-six rated at 100 net horsepower, with optional 305 and 350 cubic inch V8s, the 350 producing 155 net horsepower. Transmissions included three-speed and four-speed manuals and the three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic.
