The 1965 Ford Galaxie was all new from the frame up, with stacked dual headlights and a coil-spring three-link rear suspension replacing the old leaf springs. The redesign introduced the luxury Galaxie 500 LTD above the Galaxie 500/XL; the LTD later split off as its own model. New base engines arrived as well, the 240 cubic inch Big Six rated at 150 horsepower gross and the 289 small-block V8, while the 352, 390, and the 425 horsepower gross 427 carried over at the top of the chart.
