The 1967 Ford Galaxie was restyled with a sweeping full-fastback hardtop roofline, and the sporty XL became its own series instead of a Galaxie 500 sub-model. The 7-Litre shrank to an option package on the XL, while new federal safety requirements brought a dual-circuit brake master cylinder and an energy-absorbing steering column. Engines ran from the 240 six through the 289, 390, and 345 horsepower gross 428, with the 427 still listed at 410 or 425 horsepower gross.
