The 1999 Ford Taurus was the final model year of the third generation and the last year of the V8 SHO. The base engine was the pushrod Vulcan 3.0 V6 at 145 horsepower, with the dual-overhead-cam Duratec 3.0 V6 at 200 horsepower on the LX. The SHO used the 3.4 Yamaha V8 at 235 horsepower with the AX4N automatic, ending the V8 Taurus SHO after this year.
