The 1979 Ford Thunderbird was the final year of the seventh generation, a two-door coupe on the mid-size platform, with the Heritage Edition replacing the Diamond Jubilee as the top luxury model. The standard 302 cubic inch (5.0L) V8 produced roughly 133 SAE net horsepower, and a 351 cubic inch (5.8L) V8 was optional; the 400 cubic inch V8 was dropped for 1979. This body was replaced by a smaller Fox-platform Thunderbird for 1980.
