The 1991 Ford Thunderbird brought back V8 power, with the 5.0-liter pushrod small-block returning as an option rated 200 horsepower, the first V8 fitted to the MN12 body. The standard engine remained the 140-horsepower 3.8-liter V6, and the Super Coupe continued with its 210-horsepower supercharged and intercooled 3.8. All MN12 Thunderbirds were assembled at Ford's Lorain, Ohio plant.
