The 1992 GMC Sonoma was in its second model year under the Sonoma name, which GMC adopted for its compact S-15 pickup line in 1991. Regular and extended cab bodies came in rear- or four-wheel drive, with an engine range that ran from the 2.5-liter four through the 2.8-liter V6 to the 160 horsepower 4.3-liter Vortec V6. The one-year Sonoma GT paired an enhanced 4.3-liter V6 with central port injection, rated at 195 horsepower, with a monochromatic street-truck appearance package; 806 were built.
