MSD Atomic Throttle Body PN 291 o It you intend to operate your Atomic EFl with a returnless (Pulse Width Modulated) fuel system, the installation of a fuel pressure damper may alleviate part-throttle hesitations and mid-range sluggishness that cannot otherwrse be tuned out using the Handheld Monitor. Note: Damper installation is not required on return-style systems (Le. those equipped with a regulator). To equip your MSD Atomic EFl . throttle bod with afuel ressure dam 8, (gure 1)- y P p r use the parts shown below HDWS 'l 053 wAsazn es GRlNG cnusr-r WASHER . msoaaoss / ADAPTER DAMPER FITTING [NOT suppose] Figure 1 MSD recommends the following dampers for use with the Atomic EFl Throttle Body: Manufacturer Part Number Airtex / Wells 3G1066 Alrtex / Wells 3G1054 BWD / Standard Motor Products FD450 BWD / Standard Motor Products F0462 INSTALLATION STEPS: 1. install the O-Ring (HDW31053) on the Adapter Fitting (MSD32095). Do not cut. tear. or twist the ORing during installation. 2. install the Crush Washer (WASS2185) between the Adapter Fitting and Damper. Ensure that the Crush Washer engages the centering shoulder on the Adapter Fitting. 3. While holding the Damper with a 7/8-inch wrench. use an 11/16~inch socket and torque wrench to torque the Adapter Fitting to 150475 inchpounds (12-15 foot-pounds). 4. Apply a light coating of oil to the O~ring. and then screw the damper assembly into one of the -6AN ports on the Atomic EFl throttle body. 5. Snug the assembly against the throttle body, and then perform at least two (2) key on i key oil cycles while checking for leaks. Note: The ORlng provides a leak~tight seal in the throttle body -6AN port There is no need to apply excessive torque when installing the damper assembly.
