i drove the truck abit further so i can work on it in a better area and suddenly the engine shut off. when trying to restart, i noticed it sounded like a cylinder had no compression. i pulled the distributor cap and watched the rotor position to determine which cylinder had no compression. determined cylinder 2 was the culprit

i pulled the valve cover and found exhaust rocker for cylinder 2 had alot of slop. then found that the valve itself was stock open a good portion. the pushrod itself was still straight, probably because it was hardened. i assume i had a catastrophic lifter failure which caused this
