I was thinking of making a skirt along the base of the tailgate…

I was thinking of making a skirt along the base of the tailgate access panel, to redirect water back into the opening instead of pooling on the lower lip and dribbling inside. But in removing it, I was reminding that it's not one continuous opening... Doing several skirts would just make each one likely to leak at the ends, so that's out.
