This document provides instructions for bleeding a master cylinder and steering fluid, a diagram of the system.
Master Cylinder bench bleeding: Always bench bleed the master cylinder to get the air out of the internal passages. Bleeding the four corners of the truck doesnt do this Here is the best method for bench bleeding that I have found: push the MC plunger in with a screwdriver, then use two ngers with a glove to plug the two output ports, then release the MC plunger. This creates a vacuum effect that draws the air out really well. Repeat this until all of the air comes out. This can also be done on the truck with a helper pushing the pedaL Plumbing: Route hoses per the diagram here. Be aware of which port on your gear box is the input and the output. Normally super duty boxes use the 18mm port as the input and 16mm as output. OEM boxes often use 1/2" are as the input and 5/8 are as the output. Burping the steering uid: Raise the front axle o the ground slightly before stating the engine the rst time. Have the uid reservoir full, start the engine, run it briey, and then stop the engine and rell. Start the engine again and turn the steering wheel right to left. Check uid again, and then do this along with pushing the brake pedal. This usually takes three occasions of checking and lling the steering uid but sometimes longer. W MSW LIES ' ewe-Low PRESS LIES :
