This is the front crossmember on a 77 1/2-79 F250. These had a revised frame from the earlier 77 and older F250's. The crossmember is very deep and the engine sits just behind it. The balancer is just barely above it and because of the way it cradles the engine the stock alternator mounting location can not be used.
