Disassembled V8 engine block deck with carbon-coated piston tops

Passenger side of block, with head gasket still in place. Both block drain plugs were stripped, so we had to drain the water jackets by siphoning through a lower head bolt hole -- hence the coolant in the #4 cylinder, which leaked in as we were taking the head off.
