I had to install shorter tailgate cables because the trim panel on my tail gate was getting dinged and popping the rod off every time I lowered the gait.

Friend of mine who bought a Big Mike bumper at the same time for his 88 did not have that problem. Differences in wear on the trucks and hand fabrication of the bumper.
