The steering linkage can be adiusted to bring toe-in back within spec, But to cor- rect the camber change, Spirkott modi- ties the bottom ot the axle arms by mov- ing the ball joint socket outward. This isn't needed on small litts in the 2- to 3-inch range because etiset alignment bushings in the ball iaint sockets coni- pensate tor the camber change. The cam- ber arc with the extended ball point loca- tion allows the tire to tuck into the tenderweil on iuii compression. The real meat at the TTB heel-up is to box the open-channel backsides ot the axle arms so that the bowing and opening oi the channel IS eliminated. This not only makes them super strong but almost eliminates alignment changes atter con- tinual jumping. This truck is used as a dal- ly driver and as a chase truck tor the race team and has in excess at 250,000 miles on it with very iew problems. For this slo- ry, Spirko's son Jeremy launched the thick a dozen times. and the truck experi- anced no apparent damage. The new radius arms are also made With more ot a bend and a dieremangle than stock to allow tor a better turning radius, even with 35-inch tires. The extra gusset attaching the radius arm to the front rra arm (A) also helps triangulate and strengthen the assembly. Notice the two holes in the trains where the old bracket tor the rear oi the radius arm has been removed (a). L
